When people think about depression, they often imagine someone who feels visibly sad. In reality, depression can present in many different ways.
Some people continue going to work, caring for their families, socializing, and meeting their responsibilities while privately struggling with low mood, exhaustion, hopelessness, or a loss of interest in things they once enjoyed.

Depression may also appear as irritability, difficulty concentrating, changes in sleep or appetite, low motivation, withdrawal from others, or feeling emotionally numb. For some people, the first sign is simply feeling that everyday tasks require far more effort than they used to.
Because depression can develop gradually, it is sometimes difficult to recognize how much has changed.

If these experiences persist or begin affecting your relationships, work, health, or quality of life, professional support can help. Therapy provides an opportunity to understand what you are experiencing, identify contributing factors, and develop an individualized approach to improving emotional well-being. Seeking help is not limited to moments of crisis. Early support can be valuable.
